Whew, finally done. I got my lucky 13-slide presentation ready to go for tomorrow. Hopefully my virtual machines won't have any issues for the demonstration portion.
I haven't gotten any more official information about the HSX relocation, but I talked to Kevin today and he had gotten a call from HR with some vague updates. Looks like they are still working on the offer improvements and should have them ready soon.

I've been working on my project for class that's due on Thursday. Got most of it done tonight, just some presentation slides to put together tomorrow night. Then on Friday I might start moving some of my remaining belongings to Andrew's house.

Things are looking pretty promising with relocation. I had a 1-on-1 meeting today to cover some additional details and allow me to ask questions. I get a sizable cash bonus if I move to NC before July. Plus I might be able to get a lump sum payment for relocation instead of using the SIRVA contracted company.
I sold a couple more things today on craigslist, even less to move now. Also, Microsoft's Live.com cashback is still alive and kicking. I got a 14% discount banner on eBay today.

Well, I was supposed to get my relocation offer thing today but that didn't happen yet. The IT director is on vacation again I believe, and Angela from HR was going to email it to me directly but I think she forgot today.
We've been cleaning out some old equipment and software that won't be making the move up to RTP. They definitely want us to take a minimalistic approach. Even most of the user manuals are getting tossed, not that anybody ever looked at them anyway.
I haven't started working with VMWare in earnest yet, but I have been doing quite a bit with Sun's Virtualbox software for my sysadmin class. As of yesterday I guess Virtualbox will become an Oracle product since they are buying Sun. It's already open-source though so I don't expect they will change much of anything with it.

Wow, it's the 13th already. This month is going to pass by quickly.
One of my coworkers won a cool $1 million in the Powerball lotto. He chose the immediate payout option so it was a little over $750k before taxes. Lucky dude.
Tonight Andrew helped me move a load of stuff up to his storage unit. Got some speakers and electronics packed away that I won't need until after the NC move.

Wow, what a crazy day. Definitely feeling some mixed emotions right now.
13 full time people and 7 contractors from the Netboss group in Melbourne are being laid off in 2 months time. Another group of 20 is being offered a relocation package to Morrisville, NC where the Harris Stratex headquarters is located. The remaining folks that don't fall into either category... don't really know what's going to happen.

Woke up super early this morning for some reason so I'm watching the latest Family Guy episode. Sometimes they make cultural references that I have to look up. Like these 1983 commercials for the Kodak Disc camera. "God's gonna get you with the kodak disc." And of course, somebody has blogged about it. Oh wait...
I remember having one of those as a kid to play with. Didn't have any film, my first real camera that took pictures was a Kodak 110.
