Maybe magenta and pink aren't the best colors for Category 4 and 5. They seem too positive.

Well, I have been quite lazy about updates. Today my Computer Organization class started, which is really about computer architecture so I dont' know why they don't just call it that. Logged into ANGEL on the FIT site, had the professor "chat" with us through the first chapter slides, he answered a few quick questions, then we signed off. About an hour total.
Nate's place is getting back to normal now. Carpet was re-installed today and people are coming to clean it tomorrow. He had the padding replaced and some baseboards. We have all been watching Gustav to see if it starts turning toward Florida at all.
Today I completed the game I picked up a few days ago, Half-Life 2: Episode 2. It was fun and kept me entertained for several evenings. It's shorter than a full game because they are meant to be inexpensive serial installments. Now the PC platform also has achievements, like Xbox 360, which adds another dimension of challenge.

Free weekend of Team Fortress 2 from Valve.
Yesterday I went over to Nate's with Adam, Ryan, and Ashley to help with his house. His roommates were also there working. We cleaned out the garage, removed baseboards, and vacuumed around 600 gallons of water from his carpets. They moved as many items as possible into the garage so that the rooms would be pretty empty for the company that was supposed to go there today to dehumidify the place. Hopefully he can save the drywall and maybe some carpets, but who knows. His neighborhood was still badly flooded yesterday, we ended up wading to his house on the way in. By that evening the water level had gone down a few inches so we were able to ride out in Ryan's Jeep.
While we were working, the city representatives of FEMA stopped by to ask about the damage. A little later a SUV came by with the Mayor and city councilmen. One of the guys got a quick tour through the house to see the scope of the water damage. While he was there he mentioned that the Berkshires had a lot of flooding too, and that's where I live. Fortunately my place didn't get any water inside, but check out the photos.

Yesterday and today (and tomorrow) I have been stuck at home due to tropical storm Fay. Harris has been closed and asked people to work from home if possible, or if not possible then there will be make-up days.
Flooding at my apartment complex got pretty bad today, the parking lot near my place only has a couple inches of water but over on the other side of the complex, some cars have water halfway up the wheel wells. My neighbors were moving their cars up onto the grass so I did the same with my Yaris.
My bedroom window has also been leaking, even though I had the maintenance guy from The Berkshires come out last week. Apparently they didn't fix it completely. I've been swapping towels out as needed.
I've had the Orlando news on one screen in the background and watching some live streaming video on Florida Today since they have some vans cruising the flooded areas of Melbourne and Palm Bay. They have said flooding is worse than they've seen in the last 20 years.

I just had a "whoa, that was cool" moment with Windows Vista. I had some music playing in iTunes over my laptop speakers and I took the laptop to my bedroom and hooked it up to the Logitech USB speakers that I have in there, waiting for the audio to cut out or (more likely) iTunes to crash. Instead, the song kept playing over the laptop speakers. The remaining windows sounds started coming from the USB speakers. Vista was letting iTunes "finish" what it was doing with the internal sound card instead of forcing a change to the newly-attached USB device. As soon as I restarted iTunes (on my own terms, not forcibly through an app crash), I was able to use the USB speakers for it as well.
When I was taking the trash out today I walked past my neighbor's unwashed pickup truck. On the back of the tailgate someone (maybe him), had written with their finger "If only my wife was this dirty." I laughed. It beats the usual "please wash me."

Wow... Chef really is dead now.

I watched some of the olympics last night... looks like someone got a funny screenshot with Dubya during the women's volleyball section.
I was planning to see Pineapple Express last night with some people but it got delayed until today.

The "Rick Roll" has a new representative face.
Google had a small "oops" today with a story about Russian troops entering Georgia.

Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away today. Quite a shock, he wasn't even that old. I was just watching some of Transformers last night which is the latest movie that he was in. I guess he won't have a cameo in Transformers 2.
I picked up Lifehouse's CD "Who We Are" yesterday, almost done listening to it now and it was a good album.

Yesterday we ended up working from 8am - 7pm so it was 10 hours instead of the estimated 8. There's always something that causes a delay, and in this case we had to rearrange some circuits to balance out the power better. Only one Dell desktop didn't survive, for some reason its power supply decided to die after being shut down for a few hours.
Today I have to catch up on things that need to be done around the apartment, including paying rent and hopefully getting maintenance to come fix my window that leaks during heavy downpours. I made some time Friday night to wash my car so at least I don't have to do that today.

Felipe requested that I work today, so I ended up taking my day off yesterday and did the Tampa trip early. My transaction with the subwoofer buyer went smoothly and he seemed to be pretty happy with his purchase. The zoo was nice, unfortunately it rained a bit. Lots of kids showed up around noon that were visiting as part of summer camps. On my way back to Melbourne I got into a lot of heavy rain but it cleared up around Orlando.
Tomorrow is our "IT workday" so I'll probably be at work for around 8 hours. I did make time to wash my car tonight since it was looking pretty bad after the trip. I broke the 2,000 mile mark on the odometer on the way back yesterday.
