I just watched the Simpsons episode from 2/24, which features the Homer Youtube video where every frame is a photo from one day in his 39-year life. It actually shows the Youtube video player at the end during the TV show. Ironically, that clip has been pulled from Youtube for copyright infringement.

The original clip, which the Simpsons parodied, is here. The music is nice.

Somebody really likes Star Wars.

Today I was able to pick up a new 1000 minute T-Mobile card at Target for $88. Plus it came with a free phone, which I can return for $24 back. I love deals.

I should mention that not all of today was bad. This is national engineers week, so the NetBoss group went out for free lunch at King's Chinese Buffett and then there was cake a few hours later. Most of us were still pretty full from lunch but there's always room for cake, right?

If you do enough shopping online, eventually somebody is going to get their database hacked. When that happens, there's a good chance that the hacker will have acquired a large number of credit card numbers. It appears that my number was a casuality of one such recent attack, because I have a fraudulent charge to Corel Corporation for February 18th.

So I had to make some calls this afternoon, first to WaMu to ask about cancelling the charge, and they told me I had to contact the merchant first. So I called Corel, sat on hold for 25 minutes, and finally talked to a guy for all of 60 seconds to learn that they didn't have an account on file for me and that I would have to continue with the dispute through the card company. So I called WaMu back and reported the card lost/stolen so that they will assign me a new card number. I got the PDF form off their web site to mail in with the dispute request, fortunately the amount is only $99.99 so it's not a huge deal. Still that's $99.99 that I didn't spend so I had better get it back.

Got my tax return already, IRS was actually ahead of schedule.

It's a Mitch Hedberg kind of day.

I finally got a chance to play with Google Sketchup this weekend. It's a fairly powerful 3D design tool that can be used for a variety of things. Rectilinear objects are much easier to create than curved ones, I will say that much. Still, for detailed room layouts, architecture design, or simple object modeling its pretty cool. Some objects have already been created by people and are available in a free library.

Also for woodworking design it's nice because you can plan everything out beforehand and get all the required dimensions for cuts. Paper and pencil is where I usually start, but putting it into a 3D environment allows zoom/pan/rotate/etc that is superior to a 2D pencil sketch on paper. Also you can import textures into the program so that you can actually try to make the objects look like the final product.

I had the "Ring of Fire" at Mustard's Last Stand for lunch. Spicy sausage with jalapenos and swiss cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla, fried, then circumscribed with onion rings. Tasty.

First go view this product at amazon.com.

Then read the user reviews here. I haven't laughed that hard in a while.

I ordered my first piece of real furniture today. Fittingly enough, it's leather theater seats :) Affordable ones though, nothing crazy. Shipping out tomorrow.

So now I have to get rid of one of the cheap college couches. That aren't very comfortable. Except to sleep on, they are ok for that.

So I get an instant message from my friend Mike who was in Student Ambassadors with me at Florida Tech. He asks "when you were in high school didn't you tape someone to a pipe on the ceiling?" Me responding: yeah. I've only shown a few people the photo of that incident, which occurred at NCSSM on the 4th floor west side of Hunt Hall on a particular evening when people were bored and looking for some self-entertainment.

Turns out a web page showcasing the Top 25 Drunken Shamings of All-Time made it to the front page of digg, and inside said article was a photo of Chris Saunders duct taped to the air duct. What better way to use "duct" tape, anyway? I'm sure the author of the article had no idea that nobody in that photo was drunk or even slightly intoxicated, including Saunders who was a willing participant in the whole debacle. Everyone involved in that event got "level" punishments at NCSSM, I did not since I only found out about it after he was already duct taped. I'm sure it sucked at the time, but now they've had their 15 seconds of fame on the Internet.

Original plan for tonight was to have people over to watch U-571 on HD-DVD. I worked a couple hours on cleaning everything up. Adam had to stay home though to prep his Alienware laptop for re-sale to another student, and Felipe wasn't feeling very good after our buffet lunch at Pizza Hut today.

So instead I'm trying to catch up on some of the Harry Potter HD discs that I haven't watched yet. Chamber of Secrets is in now, man that walloping willow packs a wallop of bass. Not quite U-571 depth-charge bass but still impressive.

I filed my federal tax return tonight with taxact.com, it was very easy to do. With my student loan interest payments factored in, I got a bit more than the usual refund. Plus I actually made more money this year than usual, since I switched from part-time to full-time. Interest earned was minimal for 2007, just from my savings account. I filed electronically for free, and I won't even need a signature sheet since I had the PDF of my 2006 return.

So that's one less thing to worry about this weekend. Our Java instructor gave us a project Wednesday that is going to be a cumulative assignment through the semester and we will have to turn it in on the final week of class. Ryan might be finally ready to reveal his "secret project" to us on Sunday, he's been working on it for a while and preventing anybody from going to his house.

The hallways have been busy at NetBoss the past week. More people have been moving downstairs from the 4th floor, offices have been cleaned out, painters and construction people are working on some of the new sections. A couple people have left, a couple people have been let go.

This comic makes more sense if you've read the second Harry Potter book. Or if you just happen to be knowledgeable about serpent lore.

Double-check before you click Send.

Yesterday I checked out Fox's new On-Demand service, it works pretty well with no commercials currently. I watched a few episodes that I had missed over the past couple weeks, Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons, and of course House M.D. ABC's streaming service is still functional as usual, so LOST will be online for this season.

Watching Strange Brew on Netflix instant viewer. The audio is pretty bad and the video is 4:3 but hey it's free. The evil guy is the same person who was the villain in Minority Report. Kinda interesting that both of them met their downfall due to a security recording. Rick Moranis hasn't done any movies since both of Disney's Brother Bear. And everything has been voice acting since Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.

Last night I saw Slither after playing Halo 3 for 6 hours at Nate's place. Felipe came over again so we had 7 people playing online. Lots of fun. Anyway, the movie was firmly in the B-grade horror category but it was funny.

House M.D. and LOST started this past week, unfortunately I missed both of the episodes. There's also supposedly a House episode that will air after the Super Bowl tomorrow. Nate's having a party so I'll probably end up going over there for a little while.
