So I did have some blog entires for early July, but they got blown away the last time I tried to save the html file a couple weeks ago. Florida Tech had a problem with the quota system that was supposedly going to take a lot of work to fix, and it caused me to be unable to save or update any files in my home directory on the server.

Well tonight I decided to investigate further since there had been no correction to the system and Florida Tech IT had not sent any updates. Most students, including myself are limited to 200MB of personal storage. My quota was reporting some 370+MB used, which was about twice the actual space I was using. I poked around the partition that my quota is active on and found that somebody had restored all the user directories into a new folder. My normal home directory is /udrive/segs/jgillow and these files were in /udrive/restored/segs/jgillow. The problem is that whoever restored the files left all of the file ownerships intact which meant that everybody's disk usage immediately doubled since both fall under /udrive which has the quota applied.

I have no idea why they thought this was a major malfunction in the quota system; it was clearly functioning correctly since it tallied up both main directories owned by "jgillow." Whoever created that restore area should have moved it to a different partition or at least changed the quota system to ignore that area. It was made back on July 10 so I doubt it's even needed anymore.

I got my final grade for Operating Systems class today and it was an A.

I've got a trip to Tampa on Friday. I sold my last SVS subwoofer finally and the guy is giving me some cash to deliver it on top of the sale price. He lives just down the road from the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa so I might be making it a dual-purpose trip. The Yaris hasn't gone on a real road trip yet anyway. I'm working on Saturday with Felipe, Nate, Doug, and Adam. We have some small IT renovation projects to do while the rest of the employees are out of the office. Due to that I get Friday off as comp time, don't have to use any vacation.

My fall semester class starts on August 26 which is a week later than most of the other classes. Hopefully I won't have to buy a textbook for that one. I've gone to play tennis a couple times at school with Adam, it might be a regular weekend thing for us now.
