Browsing digg this evening and came across this page with the evolution of the PC.
To my surprise I saw the same Compaq laptop that I used to play around with. 386 with a grayscale screen and floppy drive. Small hard drive, enough for Windows 3.1 and some applications but not much else.
Tuesday night I watched the most popular movie on hulu for that day. The Secret of NIMH. It's been a really long time since I saw it last, but I remember the book pretty well. Don Bluth did some quality animation work, and hulu has several of his other films online.

VMWare ESX is pretty darn cool. We got both of our Dell R900 servers set up this week and they are running it together in a high-availability cluster. Each R900 has 24 cores at 2.4GHz and 128GB of RAM, with the option of upgrading to 256GB in the future. We have a couple EMC iSCSI SANs for the back-end storage, but that will change after they get moved to Morrisville.
Intel announced their new 8 core server chips are coming out soon, which means there will soon be a 32-core R900 avaialable.
I heard today that the server move deadline has been extended to June 22nd. That is a lot more realistic goal for us, since the original June 7th date is only a couple weeks away.
We've gotten enough rain in the last 3 days to last the whole rest of the year most likely. Supposedly it's not over yet, although I did get to drive home with a bit of sunshine this evening. When I got to the Viera intersection on US-1 I got to wait for the train to accelerate from a dead stop and then haul over 100 cars out of the way before we could get past. From the back porch of Andrew's house it's possible to hear the trains and they go by pretty often.
This weekend I'm planning to go volunteering again on Saturday, and of course we have Monday off work for Memorial Day. Not sure what my plans are yet for Sun-Mon. I haven't seen Angels and Demons yet, and the new Terminator movie came out today.

Last night I drove up to Kennedy Space Center after work to see Star Trek at the IMAX theater with Ryan, Nate, and Ashley. Our showtime was at 7pm but there was a big line of people waiting. The seats weren't sold out but it was about 90% full, not bad for a Tuesday night. Unfortunately the NASA theater still doesn't have surround sound, but it did have the trademark huge screen. The movie was enjoyable and I'll probably pick it up when it comes out on blu-ray.
Today during lunch I made a trip down to the metal recycling place in Palm Bay. I traded in some copper that I had from my old speaker crossover boards. They rounded up to 10 pounds and I got $15.50 cash for it. Since there's so much copper theft recently, they require identification, thumb print, and they take a photo.

Both the Simpsons and Family Guy did re-enactments of popular stories this week. "Shawshank" Family Guy style was great, as was the Simpson's version of Snow White. What would I do without hulu.

Just watched the NASA shuttle launch with my coworkers. Other than a few clouds it was a very nice day for a launch. Bec works at NASA and she gets all the good pictures.

60 minutes did a story about Chevron's mess in Ecuador. See ChevronToxico.com.
Went volunteering all day yesterday, so today I am staying here to wash the car and spent time with the cats.

This weekend I moved up to Rockledge to live with Andrew Lash for a couple months. A lot of my stuff was already in storage, but the rest of it went to his house and I've got a 12x12 room there for me and the cats. I've got my computers, TV, clothes, and enough shelves to store the junk I didn't put in storage. The cats were still adjusting to the new place, but hopefully they will feel more comfortable after a few days.
We went out to see Wolverine, it was a decent action flick but not of the same caliber as the other three X-Men movies.
